Ok so about 9 months ago my old computer crashed, it was some custom built one with a samsung SP1213N internal hdd.

I never really new what the problem was, I am not that tech savvy but it was christmas time so I just got a good deal on a new laptop.

Now recently it has come to my attention that i can retrieve files from this dead computer’s hard drive , using a cable that would turn it into a external hard drive that I could just plug in to my laptop’s usb.

Would a USB 2.0 to IDE ATA External Hard Disk CD-ROM DVD Drive Adapter Converter Cable work for a samsung SP1213N?

Please I really need help because I had allot of important pictures on that computer like family stuff and some writing.

Hello. I have a 200GB Samsung SATA hard drive which I am using a USB to SATA adapter to connect to my laptop. I wanted to back up some files I have on my computer to it, but every time I try and copy it over Vista tells me that the file is missing, although it is clearly where it should be. Some files will copy, and then some will not. I’m open to all suggestions, and feel free to be specific, I have computer literacy, I’m studying for my A+, Thank you.
