I purchased a Drobo off of Amazon the other day so I could backup all of the files on my computer in a more reliable way. It essentially takes all of my data, and stores it on up to 4 HDD’s inside of it. One of the nice things about it is that it’s redundant. This means that if any hard drive were to fail inside the Drobo, I can replace it without losing any data. This is because the other HDD’s in it also have the same data stored on them. So it makes it very difficult for me to lose any of my data. Which is a very, very good thing. =]

tinyurl.com The MacBook Air is a Macintosh notebook computer designed by Apple. It is positioned as the ultraportable in Apple’s MacBook Family and was introduced at the Macworld Conference & Expo on January 15, 2008. It has been revised twice since the original release. When the MacBook Air was introduced, Apple described it as the “world’s thinnest notebook”. After the release of the MacBook Air, Dell challenged that claim with the release of the Dell Adamo. Several features were sacrificed to reduce the computer’s size and weight. It is Apple’s first notebook since the PowerBook 2400c without a built-in removable media drive.[2] It also omits a FireWire port, ethernet port, line-in, media card slots and a Kensington Security Slot. The battery is internal and not user removable, and the RAM is soldered onto the motherboard. A single speaker is included for mono sound. A flip-down hatch on the right side reveals the ports on the MacBook Air: a single USB port, a Mini DisplayPort, and a stereo earphone jack. The left side of the machine has a MagSafe adapter for power, and there is a webcam above the 13.3″ screen. To regain the features of an optical drive, users can either use a separately-available external USB SuperDrive, or the bundled Remote Disc software to access the optical drive of another computer.[3] Using an ethernet cable requires a separately available USB-to-ethernet adapter. The MacBook Air was the first subcompact laptop offered by Apple since the full …
I recently decided it was time to upgrade my computer. Considering my old computer was completely fried, this decision came quite easily. This decision was made even easier when I realized that I can build a machine that runs OSX just as well as a Mac Pro that retails starting at 99.99. Oh, did I mention that a Mac Pro equivalent can be assembled for less than half the cost?! The internet has a plethora of information and guides that cater directly to the OSX86 Community; many guides are even available for existing hardware configurations. The article I am going to follow is the guide from Adam Pash titled, Install Snow Leopard on Your Hackintosh PC, No Hacking Required For the most part, I stayed with the original hardware configuration – with the exception of a few extra goodies. I figured since my current computer has been reduced to a pile of useless bits-and-pieces, why not? This is a short glimpse into the process of adding an SSD to your macbook Pro while maintaining your current hard drive. This is achieved by sacrificing your superdrive in favor of a 9.5mm SATA adapter. This adapter allows any 9.5mm drive bay to be turned into a standard 2.5″ hard drive bay. My machine now runs an 80GB Intel G2 SSD and the original 500GB stock drive. I will be following this video with an in-depth, technical look into ssds and their abilities (within the Mac environment). Stay tuned.
mac-ssd-drives.com – An aging G5 Apple imac gets a speed bump by installing a 2.5″ laptop size SATA II SSD into a 3.5″ full size case for use in desktop computers like the imac and Mac Pro towers. It should be noted most Macs – especially _consumer_ Macs prior to 2008 – only have SATA I speed controller chips. This isn’t a big technical issue because SATA II spec is backwards compatible. But in older Apple laptop and desktop systems – you don’t necessarily need to buy the most expensive, fastest SSD drive: Midrange ssd’s tend to match SATA I interface speeds quite well.
