DX 3.5″ to 2.5″ HDD Converter

Nice adapter, useful for unused old mp3 player like mine Creative Jukebox Zen Extra in my closet. + 60GB for .62. Nice trade. Soon gonna test it in my PS2 to, better then the old 10GB HD I’m using on it. ps.: do not fit in PS2. =/

Will This Hard Drive Work in my iBook?

Ok, my teacher has a Dell Latitude D600 Laptop that got water spilled on it last year by a student, well the HD was still good (we bought a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter and have booted from it on a PC), so we took it out and copied all the files over to a big HD and so he said i could have it and reformat it. My question is will it work in my Apple iBook?? I don’t have the drive in front of me now (its at school) but i do know its a Fujitsu drive that i am pretty sure is stock, and i beleive it is 80 GB (big upgrade for the ibook) So i am wondering if it will work in my ibook

Is my hard drive dead?

ok, i have a hard drive from a dell laptop, its a Fujitsu HD 60 GB, and we have a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter to hook it up to a PC, all is good when we boot from it, but now, when we plug it in to the adapter, it doesn’t even power on, and i hooked it up to an external enclosure, and still, no power, the adapter was from tigerdirect, cables-to-go i beleive, and i am really hoping it isn’t dead, there is valuable info on that drive, so do we just need to buy a new adapter?? or am i screwed?

I need to hook an external CD ROM to my laptop hard disk.Someone suggested me to purchase an IDE adapter connecting 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch hard drive. On the web,I found these two claiming to serve the same purpose. However, they look very different.

Hauppauge HD PVR This is a great card…works straight out the box, no need to upgrade you’re computer, as long as you have one of the newer ones, not one from 5 years ago, because all the encoding is already done by the product, not our computer. The downfall of this card is that it only has Component connections; therefore; limiting it’s quality of the recorded footage. Pros: -Works right out the box -Doesn’t need an extremely powerful computer/Works for PC and Mac -Ability to play Xbox 360 without turning on your computer(not 100% sure but it looks like it since the HD PVR has its own power adapter) Cons: -Component cables -No support or future support for 1080p/Resolutions only up to 1080i Blackmagic Intensity Pro The next best thing, I believe this card is better than the HD PVR for many reason, first being that it is an HDMI card and HDMI is better than component. I know people will say, for youtube, there no/minimal difference in quality between these cards, but in actuality, it is better. Component cables are maxed out on what it’s capable of doing; however, HDMI is still expanding. The downfall of this card is, it is an internal card, only used for Desktop computers, NO LAPTOPS. Works with both Mac and PC. You do need to have the program up and your computer running in order to see picture on your TV but that can be fixed by buying an HDMI splitter. Pros: -HDMI input/output -Support for 1080p, extra note, see below in Cons -Ability to record uncompressed as well

My laptop recently got a trojan, due to some friends and there poor choice of music downloads. I attempted to do a system restore, and got the black screen that says: “Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt. Windows\System32\Hal.dll”. Now the system restore wont work. I looked up how to fix this, and was told to access the recovery console via the actual windows XP disc OR download Setup Disks for Floppy Boot Install. I only have a system recovery disc that came with the laptop, I never got an installation disc. My warranty must be null and void by now. My laptop DOES not even have a floppy drive. Its a toshiba m35x-s349. my desktop doesnt a have floppy drive either, so im not able to "ghost" it onto a USB. I cant access the OS i keep gettin the black screen with the .dll pop up. Is there anyway to wipe the hard drive while its in this state? Recovery of the lost data is no big deal to me, as I use my desktop for important stuff.

I googled and found that you can purchace adapters to connect laptop hard drives to ur regular desktop. My idea is too make the laptop HD slave to my desktop HD. Use my desktop OS to delete/undo (whichever is easier) the damage. Will this work or am I reaching just a bit? Would I be able to delete the drive this way? Would erasing partitions delete the data? I have spent 4 hours and 33 minutes on the computer today trying to figure this out via google and other search engines

P.S. I If im able to get one of the XP discs. does it have to be same edition? For example could I use an sp3 disc on sp1?

I know my toshiba came from factory with an ATA hard drive but can I use a SATA hard drive since they’re abundant in choice from Best buy and other retailers? Will I need any special adapters like an IDE to SATA? I’ve been looking at a Seagate barracuda 500GB SATA/300 HD from best buy, will that work?

I was recommended to buy an internal hard drive adapter for a lap top HD and an internal sea-gate/ max tor hard drive the newer and older style, the guy showed it to me its a long cord with usb on one end and adapters for both new and old internal hard drive interfaces, as well as laptop ones. He said it’d be on tiger direct or newegg however he didn’t know the name. SO the question is what is the name of this type of adapter for internal hard drives to be used as external.
