Hp laptop hard drive adapter for recovery?

I have hp pavilion dv9000 17′ laptop. my motherboard fried and I took the hard drive out. I need an adapter to recover my files. What kind of adapter do I need. I went to bestbuy and radiosachk this morning they had different kind of input than what I have. what kind of out does this hard drive have. I could not find it online please help.

There is an adapter that will work on both IDE and SATA drives, and connect the hard drive to your computer via the usb port. Most computer parts places have it like newegg.
