I may have ordered the wrong hard drive, but I want to make sure that it was my mistake and I want to know if it would be something I could get an adapter for it before I pay the restocking fee.
Here are pictures of the two drives and their specs, first the original drive that came with the laptop:

Look at the part that looks to be made of copper (interface?) and meets with a corresponding piece on the laptop (Mothorbord?), its on the top of the first images and on the bottom image. These two pieces are different, the original has copper pieces that stick into the laptop, but the new drive has a piece that looks to lay onto another piece.

So, where did I mess up, and is their any way I can use the new drive?

Thanks

Clevo W870CU laptop for sale: Temecula, CA

I recorded this video with a tape camcorder so keep that in mind. Game settings is all on high and plays smooth. Alright I’m selling this laptop on craigslist in the inland empire, specifically Temecula. So if you are in Southern California, and are interested, I am selling the laptop for 00. Note that this demo was with the 920xm processor which was replaced with an i5-520m. Specs are ATI 5870m, Intel Core i5-520m with turbo boost, 500GB 7200RPM Hard drive, 17.3″ 1920×1080 full hd screen, dvdrw burner, built in wireless, 4GB DDR3 Ram. Laptop has HDMI out with HD sound pass through, bluetooth, and more. Selling it for 00 firm. Let me know if you are Interested. Local pick up in Temecula, CA only. Thanks. Would also note that this game(MW2) plays exactly the same with the i5-520m vs the 920xm processor. Only difference as far as games go, is that the i5-520m runs a lot cooler, and uses less power, which is why I opted with the 520m. Game looks a lot better in person. Comes with 120 watt, and 160 watt ac adapter.

How do I create a network hard drive drive?

I own a 1 TB external HDD formatted in NTFS which I use to backup multiple movies and documents. However, I use a laptop and I don’t want one of my precious USB ports to be always blocked so I was wondering how to create a network drive. Can I buy a simple USB to Ethernet adapter and then just plug it into my Linksys router or would I need to buy something a bit more elaborate.
I looked into the Apple Airport Extreme but it only supports HFS+ and Fat32 hard drive formatting, and I use NTFS (Windows only). Anyone here have any suggestions?

i just bought a laptop on ebay. based on the item description, it works fine, but it doesnt include a hard drive, hard drive caddy, power ac adaper and battery. i have no problem replacing the battery and ac adapter, but i want to know, what kind of hard drive does it take so i can buy the size caddy for the laptop. heres a more descriptive look:

USB external case for MK4021GAS drive?

I have a Toshiba MK4021GAS 2.5" notebook drive, which I got from my nonworking laptop. I want to connect the hdd to my pc to access its files. I used a maxtor mini edition case and put the hdd inside, but when I connected the device to my computer nothing showed up. Then I connected a 5V adapter to the external drive in case the USB cable could not deliver enough power. Still the hdd is not working. No LED light is turned on on the hdd, but I can feel small movements in the drive when I connect the power. The external case works with my other maxtor hard disk. Can you suggest any external case that can run my hard disk, or you have any suggestions?
I bought another external case from CCity, and it didn’t help. Redfive94901, why do you think I have to set master/slave pins? This HDD is connected through USB port. Maste setting is needed when you connect more than one HDD with IDE or SATA. The laptop actually has a motherboard problem. Also there’s the possibility that the HDD’s motor or head is missaligned or not working properly. If that’s the case, where should I take it to fix?

Integrate any USB stick with MP3, WMA, OGG music into your factory Lexus or Toyota radio. No need to replace stock stereo ! Look how simple is to navigate and use it. Installation is plug and play. iPod and any other MP3 player can be attached in addition to USB stick.

I have a gateway t-1631 laptop and recently i installed a new hard drive. When i installed it my computer stopped getting wifi and i have no idea how to access my webcam either (it only works when i use video chat). I keep getting this message "this computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured" when i try to diagnose the problem. I install the newest hardware from the manufactures website, but it still doesn’t work. Does anyone know what may be wrong?

would you suggest i get this laptop for gaming?

My computer won’t boot because it can’t find the boot.ini and the repair disk I made before seems to be corrupted. I tried the Recovery Console but it couldn’t repair, replace or find boot.ini

I have an IDE to USB cable with power adapter now so I can access the hard drive without turning on my pavillion that won’t boot.

I know Hewlett Packard DID NOT give me an Win XP CD or recovery disks because they installed the files in my hard drive – and I can access them now

I am now accessing the hard drive with my Acer Win Vista laptop

Every option I’ve found so far to fix the boot.ini tells me I need a Window XP CD which I don’t have, so I thought I should make one first

Is there anyway I can create a recovery CD or fix the boot.ini externally through what I have with me now?

I just need it to run until I buy the Win 7 that’s coming out

Is USB power grounded?

I just got a USB laptop hard drive enclosure. It has a port for external power, but it didn’t come with an AC adapter because USB provides power.

But unlike with a 3-prong power cable which I know is grounded, I have no idea how much grounding is provided by USB. The USB port on it appears to be a Mini-B. Will the hard drive be sufficiently grounded to avoid i.e. power surges when connected to my comptuer?
I guess it wasn’t entirely clear, but my concern is damage to the hard drive, not to myself.

It’s an older laptop, has like 6 gigs of hard drive space and 64MB ram lol.. anyways what do i need to go online with it, i’m hoping for a good external wifi adapter or something, thanks.

—————————Two stories here, their both the same thing, ones really descriptive and ones just down to the point, i suggest you read the descriptive one, but all the facts may not be needed! thanks!———————————————————————————————————————————–

I had big problems with my laptop as far as viruses, so i re installed windows 7 home 32 bit. My laptop cannot find my home network or my neighbors but all the other wireless devices including other laptops can. i have a Atheros wireless adapter and a linksys router. Please help! could it be a corrupt driver or something?

—————–VERY descriptive version———————————————————-

I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Pre. 32 bit on my laptop because i wanted to format the hard drive, Start fresh, and I think my computer was infected, AVG kept warning me and every time i would remove the problem but more kept popping up. Would that of done something?
RIght now i have a Compaq Presario CQ60 (not sure if i need to tell you that but im trying to be descriptive as possible.). My wireless adapter is a Atheros AR5007 802.1 1b/g wifi adapter (copying everything my computer says) and i am using a Linksys wireless broadband router (model no. WRT160N) and i had the LELA software installed before i re installed windows 7.
As of now i am connected viaEthernett cable and all my other wirelessDevicess (i.e. iPod touch, and 3 other family member’s laptops) can find not only my network but my neighbor’s too.
When im not plugged into the router it says that i am not connected toany networkk and none areavailablee. I tried tomanuallyy add the network but thatdidn’tt workeitherr. Could it be that the infection i had before could of screwed up my adapter? Should i try to reinstall the drivers? Please help, usually im good with computers but ihaven’tt had muchexperiencee with wireless adapters!
OMG C++ i feel like a total idiot! Here i am the smartest person in the house when it comes to computers and i forgot to check the witeless button. (the new compaq and HP laptops have an adapter button next to the power button!) I was on sombody else’s laptop and i look over at mine after you said that and the button was read instead of blue telling me that it is offline! thanks for finding my dumb sh*t mistake, ill give you best answer when i get the option!

Video Tutorial Upgrade Xbox 360 Hard Drive

Things you will need: T6 (Screw)Driver or Bit T10 (Screw)Driver or Bit a PC with SATA Port, Serial Power (or Molex to Serial Power Adaptor) and Xplorer360: rapidshare.com (only use Xplorer360Bevs for WD BEVS Drives)

My acer is no longer under warranty as I’ve had it for 5+ years, however, in that time, I have been very happy with it and although (until recently) it has been operating fine, I planned on replacing it with a newer model and also hope to get another Acer computer (My desktop is also an Acer – Purchased about a year ago)

I’m writing because I recently started having trouble with my laptop.

It shut down the other night on its own (while connected to the power supply cord) and I haven’t been able to get it to boot since…

When I start it up, it says that my computer did not shut down properly and asks how I would like to start my computer.

The options (i beleive there are four of them) are to start in safe mode, start in normal mode, start using the last options that worked, and one other one.

When I choose one these (I tried them all at separate times), it brings me to the next screen where it asks for my HDD password (the password BEFORE the welcome screen).

I type it in, it brings me to another screen with the windows logo and a status bar…

Normally after this screen, it goes to the Welcome screen…However, instead of going to the welcome screen, it shuts off.

Not only does it shut off, but then it restarts automatically and the whole process begins again.

I dropped it off to a friend who is trying to figure out what the problem is, but while he’s doing this, I took my hard drive out, placed it in an adapter that is supposed to let me access my files from another computer, but it’s not working…

My friend thinks it has something to do with the HDD password – He can’t get into my information.

Is there anything I can do for this?

I run my own business and unfortunately, my assistant hasn’t backed our files up for the last month…

I risk losing EVERYTHING because of this and I don’t know what to do.

I don’t mind so much about the actual computer – I was hoping to replace it soon, but I NEED to be able to access those files and at LEAST be able to print them or see the information or have it work just long enough to be able to back them up…

I don’t care about ANY of the files on the hard drive except for those pertaining to my business…

If I’m not able to access these soon, I’ll have to shut down my business to be able to catch everything up in time for taxes.

Again, I’m hoping that someone here can offer SOME form of help or advice…

ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated.
The first suggestion is a great one, except that the computer shuts down before I can get to that point…

Is there anything else I can do???
Turned out it was a problem with the hard drive…

Had to send it in to a data recovery specialist and pay ,000 to get all the information off of it…

Thanks so much for trying!
